Here’s my Ivory Blooming Cactus design for part 3 of my Summer Collection. This scarf is for olivine green lovers. Its earthy tones are lightened with Ivory flowers and a pale blue sky background. Done in a soft, slightly sheer Mulayam Cotton with 1/8” machine stitched rolled hems, approximately 34” square. Fabric printed in the UK, drawings and stitching done by myself.
The inspiration: About a year ago I saw a very vibrant green winter coat. It was a man’s coat and I didn’t buy it, which I kind of regret because the color has sort of taken over my mind. It seems to of triggered a highlighting of all greens for me and this cactus green study is an offshoot of that. Then there is my abiding love of green and white or ivory, add in the yellows of the blossoms stamens and the yellow ocher tones of the ground and stones and you’ve got a classic Sihaya design, lol.
